Once you've connected the Gateway to your vehicle using the cable for your vehicle type, this step covers securing the Gateway, mounting the Camera, and verifying the connection.
Connect and Secure the LytxOne Gateway
- Plug the cable connector into the PWR/OBD port on the LytxOne Gateway.
- Secure the Gateway tightly to the vehicle. A loose Gateway may cause inconsistent detection of harsh events and unreliable data reporting.
- If possible, avoid surrounding the Gateway with metal parts, as this could interfere with wireless or GPS connectivity.
- Place the Gateway underneath the dashboard or behind the diagnostic port, so it's securely mounted and doesn't obstruct vehicle operations.
- Route the cables neatly to prevent interference with pedals, vehicle controls, or the driver. Use the included zip ties or cable clips for secure cable organization.
Note
Place the device under the dash in a well-ventilated area. Don't block
or cover the air vents on the device, proper airflow is required for
safe and reliable operation.
Warning
If at any point after installation a warning light comes on in the vehicle
dash, or the vehicle stalls or shows a marked drop in performance, shut
off the engine, remove the device, and contact your reseller. Continuing
to operate a vehicle with these symptoms can cause loss of vehicle control
and serious injury.
Tip
Make sure all cables and components are positioned securely and don't obstruct the driver's space or interfere with vehicle operation.
Mount the LytxOne Camera
- Position the camera on the windshield below the rearview mirror and above the windshield sweep area, with a clear view of the road ahead and the vehicle cabin.
- Clean the windshield thoroughly with the alcohol wipe to ensure proper adhesion of the 3M mounting pad.
- Peel off the protective backing from the 3M mounting pad and press the camera firmly against the windshield. Hold it in place for a few seconds to ensure a strong bond.
- Use the safety screwdriver to unlock the camera and adjust its road-facing and cabin-facing angles. Tighten the locking screw once the desired positions are set (Quarter turn at most).
- Run the camera cable along the top edge of the windshield. Use the included cable clips or tuck the cable under the glass seal to secure it neatly.
- Connect the camera cable to the CAM port on the LytxOne Gateway.
- Check the status LED on the camera to confirm it's powered on and operational.
Note
Remove all blue protective stickers from the camera lenses. Leaving the stickers on will affect video quality and may obstruct the camera's view.
Turn On the Vehicle and Verify the Gateway
- Turn on the vehicle and verify that the Gateway's green POWER LED lights up, confirming the device is receiving power.
- Allow one to three minutes for the Gateway to initialize and connect to the LytxOne platform. The GNSS LED should turn green once satellites are acquired and a location fix is obtained. The CELL LED should turn solid green once connected to the mobile network and the LytxOne platform.
Note
If the CELL LED remains red or blinking, make sure the vehicle is in an area with good cellular reception. In some cases, a short drive (5 to 10 minutes) may be needed for the Gateway to establish connectivity.
Once the Gateway is physically installed and powered, continue to Step 4: Activate, Verify, Complete to finish the setup process.
