If you experience any issues during installation, use the following guide to resolve common problems. For a full breakdown of what each LED state means, see Understanding LED Statuses.
| Symptom |
Diagnosis & Resolution |
| No POWER LED on Gateway |
Check that the cable connector is fully inserted into both the vehicle's port and the Gateway's PWR/OBD port, it should click into place. Confirm the vehicle's ignition is on. Try a different port or cable if available. If using a Y-cable or splitter, use a multimeter to check power and ground continuity from the vehicle port through to both sockets. |
| CELL LED stays red |
No SIM card detected. Contact Lytx support to verify the SIM is properly provisioned and seated in the Gateway. The SIM card slot is at the bottom of the device, under a plastic panel secured with a small screw. |
| CELL LED stays blinking red |
The Gateway cannot connect to the mobile network. Make sure the vehicle is in an area with cellular reception. Avoid surrounding the Gateway with metal parts. Try repositioning it and wait up to 5 minutes. |
| GNSS LED stays red |
The Gateway has power but cannot acquire satellites. Make sure it isn't obstructed by dense metal (for example, under a steel plate). Reposition if possible, and take a short drive to allow satellite acquisition. |
| Device not appearing, or not Active, in the Fleet Portal |
Run the mobile network connection test to confirm the device has internet access. Make sure the vehicle is on and the device has been powered for at least a few minutes. If the device doesn't appear, confirm its IMEI is correctly registered to your account. |
| CAN or diagnostic data missing on platform |
The cable may not pass through all required pins. Verify continuity with a multimeter on the relevant data pins for your cable type. Replace with a full pass-through cable if needed. In some cases, a short drive is required for the Gateway to read vehicle data. |
| Camera not streaming |
Verify the camera cable is firmly connected to the CAM port on the Gateway. Check that the camera's LED indicates it's powered on. Restart the Gateway by disconnecting power for 15 seconds and reconnecting. |
| Check Engine Light after install |
A passive splitter shouldn't trigger a check engine light. Disconnect both devices, clear the DTC with a scan tool, and reconnect one device at a time to isolate the cause. |
| Intermittent connection or rebooting |
The cable connection may be loose. Secure it with a zip tie or port lock. If using a Y-cable or splitter, check that voltage is stable under load, two power-hungry devices on a single unswitched feed can cause voltage drops on an aging battery. |

If any of these issues persist, contact Lytx support for further assistance and diagnosis.
Warning
If at any point after installation a warning light comes on in the vehicle
dash, or the vehicle stalls or shows a marked drop in performance, shut
off the engine, remove the device, and contact your reseller. Continuing
to operate a vehicle with these symptoms can cause loss of vehicle control
and serious injury.
